How to write a check

Write the date on the line in the upper right-hand corner.
There is a line near the word “Date.”  on the upper, right hand corner.  This is the date you are writing and signing the check.
Write the name of the recipient.
Write the name of the person, or company, you’re giving the check to next to the line that says “Pay to the Order of.”  If it is a person, write both their first and last names (  John Smith, for example)  If it’s a company  make sure you  know how the company name is written  before you write the check.

Write the amount of the check on the right of the dollar sign.
Write out the total amount using dollars and cents.  Cents go to the right of the decimal point.  If your check is for thirty dollars and five cents write $30.05

On the line below the “Pay to”  line where you wrote WHO the money was for, write the amount of the check in word form.
For your $30.05  check you would write ‘Thirty dollars and 05/100’ on this line.

Sign the check on the line in the lower right corner.
Your check becomes valid once it is signed
Fill out the memo section on the lower left of the check.
This is not necessary for the check to be valid but you should indicate what the check is for.
